In June 2016, AmSurg Corp. and Envision Healthcare Holdings, Inc. (Envision) announced they have signed a definitive merger agreement pursuant to which the companies will combine in an all-stock transaction. Upon completion of the merger, which is expected to be tax-free to the shareholders of both organizations, the combined company will be named Envision Healthcare Corporation and co-headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee and Greenwood Village, Colorado. The company's common stock is expected to trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol: EVHC. Bass, Berry & Sims served as lead counsel on the transaction, led by Jim Jenkins. Emily Burrows advises clients related to technology-based transactions and the management of trademark portfolios. Emily guides companies developing new product lines through the critical step of creating and protecting their trademarks. For technology clients who license their software products, Emily provides guidance on a broad range of intellectual property protection and enforcement issues related to the transactions. As part of her intellectual property practice, Emily works closely with the corporate group on large and middle-market transactions.

Working with businesses from industries including food and beverage, healthcare, retail, media and technology, Emily's intellectual property practice involves:

  • Licensing of intellectual property
  • Trademarks and trademark enforcement
  • Technology-based transactions

Prior to joining the firm, Emily practiced at a firm in Austin, Texas. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Lawrence E. Meyers with the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.
