Bass, Berry & Sims attorney Emily Burrows provided insight on Tennessee’s proposed ELVIS Act – a bill that protects voice and likeness in connection with artificial intelligence (AI) generation – that passed in both state Congressional committees and will now move to a floor vote. Tennessee is the first state to take action in protecting artists from AI, but other laws are expected as AI technology develops.
“With all the AI regulations that are going on, the technology is changing faster than the laws…” Emily said. “But it’s just a matter of balancing the need for innovation, which is a great thing … versus protecting individual rights.”
