Brian Iverson has led clients to victory in a wide range of high-stakes litigation across the nation. His practice primarily focuses on complex business disputes, including intellectual property, government contract and financial services litigation. Brian’s broad experience allows him to quickly understand clients’ business objectives and offer creative, practical and cost-effective strategies to achieve their goals.
Brian regularly appears in federal and state courts, as well as administrative and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) proceedings. He has served as trial and appellate counsel in multi-million dollar disputes. He is as comfortable in the boardroom as he is in the courtroom, advising and counseling clients on how to protect trademarks and other intellectual property assets and how to mitigate risks associated with business strategies.
Brian’s practice includes:
- Intellectual Property Litigation – Representing individuals and companies in patent, trademark, unfair competition, false advertising, dilution, consumer protection, trade secret, and copyright disputes. Brian’s intellectual property practice has taken him to federal district courts across the country and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He also handles trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
- Government Contracts Litigation – Handling a wide variety of government contract disputes, including prime/sub disputes, claims against the government in the Boards of Contract Appeals, and False Claims Act (FCA) cases.
- Financial Services Litigation – Counseling and representing financial institutions on loan disputes, contract disputes, tort claims, consumer protection, consumer class actions, and Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act matters.
- Complex Business Litigation – Advising businesses of all sizes in commercial disputes involving breach of contract, breach of warranty, fraud, consumer protection, and other business claims.
Brian frequently speaks and writes on IP and commercial litigation. He co-authors the chapter on Alternative Dispute Resolution in Bloomberg BNA’s Patent Litigation Strategies Handbook and Securities Law for Banks from the Bloomberg BNA Banking Practice Series.
For many years, Brian has been a leader in pro bono causes. He served on the firm’s Pro Bono Committee from 2012 through 2017, coordinating the firm’s pro bono services for the Veterans Consortium, the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program, the Wounded Warrior Project, and the Homeless Experience Legal protection (HELP) clinic.
