At Bass, Berry & Sims, our affinity groups are directly connected to firm management. Together, we are fostering an inclusive and supportive environment while advancing the firm’s diversity goals.

Affinity group members and allies play a key role in the firm’s strategic plan and overall commitment to diversity and inclusion, and each group is focused on the unique goals of its membership. An Executive Committee member is assigned as a liaison to each group to ensure members’ perspectives are heard and considered at the highest level.

By sharing knowledge and promoting dialogue between the group and non-members, each affinity group actively contributes to building a stronger and more open firm community. Ongoing initiatives involve educational events, networking and social activities, community partnerships and service opportunities, law-school and lateral recruitment efforts, and mentorship programs.

As part of the firm’s overall Diversity & Inclusion program, we are proud to support the Nashville Bar Association’s (NBA) High School Intern program. Each year the NBA places an average of 10 high school students at area law firms to learn about the legal profession. Below is a photo of the 2019 NBA interns during a visit to Vanderbilt University to hear from the admissions teams at Vanderbilt Law School and Belmont University College of Law. The admissions teams discussed how to prepare for college and the requirements for applying to law school. Pictured below are the interns, the admissions teams and representatives from the NBA.
