The primary goal of our affinity groups is to play a key role in the firm’s ongoing efforts regarding diversity and inclusion around the areas of leadership, culture, advancement, recruiting and communication. Our affinity groups focus on the unique issues of the respective group and highlight the positives, deal in truths, and encourage optimism and interaction with people outside the groups.
Through our diversity and inclusion plan and initiatives, Bass, Berry & Sims is committed to the advancement and retention of women attorneys. Our Women’s Initiative is led by five members who are committed to serving as role models to all attorneys in the firm, and most importantly to recruiting and retaining women attorneys, promoting women attorneys to partnership and developing leadership skills to ensure women are positioned for leadership roles at our firm and in our communities.
Culture, advancement and communication are the top priorities for our Women’s Initiative.
- Culture – Our culture needs to provide an environment that fosters open dialogue about what success looks like for our women attorneys, realizing that everyone’s path to success is not linear.
- Advancement – Our advancement of women attorneys must be intentional and provide opportunities to work on teams and with our valued clients and to provide meaningful and frequent feedback to allow our women attorneys to grow professionally and personally.
- Communication – Our communications both internally and externally will highlight the many positives that our women attorneys bring to the firm, our clients and our communities.
We want to be leading the effort for equality in numbers of women associates and partners. We are working toward strategies that will allow us to move ahead in the recruitment, retention and advancement of women attorneys.
