The Working Parents Initiative was created to serve as a community for working parents of school-aged children within the firm, centered around the shared experience of caregiving. This initiative supports the firm’s goal of cultivating an environment for the personal and professional development of our attorneys and professional staff.

At Bass, Berry & Sims, we are committed to providing an environment in which parenting obligations and roles are highly valued, alongside one’s professional abilities and aspirations. Through the Working Parents Initiative, the firm strives to provide mentoring opportunities to help working parents of all genders navigate situations, challenges and opportunities unique to their experiences. In addition, through ongoing dialogue with firm leadership, the members of the Working Parents Initiative hope to generate innovative solutions, policies and practices that impact working parents and promote the recruitment, retention and advancement of talented working parents within the firm.

Bass, Berry & Sims is honored to be named one of the “Best Law Firms for Women & Diversity” by Seramount for five consecutive years (2019-2023). The annual list recognizes firms that utilize best practices in recruiting, retaining, promoting, and developing women lawyers and lawyers from underrepresented groups, including people of color. In 2023, Bass, Berry & Sims was among 50 firms that earned spots on the list. Programs and Activities

The Working Parents Initiative has launched a mentoring program for working parents taking parental leave and plans to actively organize a number of events during the coming months. These activities will create a community among working parents both professionally and socially to engage parents and their children.
