Earlier this year, Bass, Berry & Sims Managing Partner Todd Rolapp participated in the Women in Law Hackathon event – a competition designed to generate innovative ideas to close the gender gap in law firms. Out of this experience, the organizers formed the Hackathon Alliance – a group of law firms that has committed to implement and pilot one or more of the ideas generated out of the competition. Bass, Berry & Sims is proud to be among one of the 36 firms that will participate in this initiative in 2017.
“I am excited to have Bass, Berry & Sims be among these prestigious firms to join the Hackathon Alliance. I truly enjoyed participating in the Women in Hackathon event to identify and develop better ways to engage and retain women attorneys across the legal industry. I am eager to start working with the Alliance,” said Todd.
According to Diversity Lab, one of the creators of the Women in Law Hackathon, the ideas presented at the conclusion of the Hackathon ranged from revamping the law firm reward/values system and creating a blind compensation process designed to close the pay gap to a team-based and technology-driven sponsorship initiative focused on supporting women associates’ rise to partnership. Diversity Lab will work with the 36 law firms and handful of legal departments to support the implementation of the ideas.
