Gene Humphreys has more than 30 years of experience representing parties in restructuring and insolvency matters, as well as various types of business litigation. Gene helps companies facing financial difficulty on strategic solutions which might include bankruptcy or a debt workout.

Gene has served a variety of industries, including automotive, aviation, banking/lending, coal mining, entertainment, food service and food products, healthcare, nonprofit organizations, petroleum manufacturing/distributing, publishing, real estate, and retail manufacturing/sales in matters relating to:

  • Restructuring & Bankruptcy – Handling all aspects of bankruptcy cases (representing debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, trustees, committees, and asset purchasers), various types of bankruptcy and commercial litigation at both the trial and appellate levels, and out-of-court workouts, restructurings and mediations; preparing opinions on substantive consolidation issues related to the transaction.
  • Business Disputes – Representing parties in commercial litigation and mediation in a variety of matters, including corporate fiduciary disputes, breach of contract, business torts, and matters under the Uniform Commercial Code, including breach of warranties and enforcement of security interests.
  • Environmental – Advocating in environmental and mass tort litigation, especially benzene litigation in the petroleum manufacturing and distributing industry.
