Nashville, Tenn., (May 26, 2016) – Bass, Berry & Sims PLC is pleased to welcome six new attorneys to the firm. Four of the new attorneys were added to the Nashville office and two joined the Memphis, Tennessee office.

Douglas W. Dahl II (Counsel, Nashville) assists clients on all facets of employee benefits programs and executive compensation issues. He works with private and public companies on the creation, administration and compliance of qualified retirement plans and compensation packages. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Dahl practiced in the Washington, D.C. office of Proskauer Rose LLP. From 2009-2011, Dahl was an attorney with the IRS, Office of Chief Counsel. Dahl received his LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center (2007), a law degree from Samford University Cumberland School of Law (2006) and a B.A. from Kansas State University (2002).

Katie Day (Associate, Nashville) represents lenders and borrowers in commercial lending transactions, including project financings, revolving credit and term loan facilities, and asset-based loans. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Day practiced in the New York offices of Latham & Watkins LLP and White & Case LLP. Day received her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center (2010) and B.A. and B.S. degrees from the University of South Carolina (2007).

Andrew Hard (Associate, Nashville) advises companies on a variety of business related matters in the areas of private equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and corporate governance. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, he practiced in the Houston office of Andrews Kurth LLP. Hard earned his law degree from Vanderbilt Law School (2013) and a B.Mus. from Vanderbilt University (2008).

David W. Harper, Jr. (Associate, Nashville) counsels public and private companies across a broad range of industries on business matters in connection with real estate acquisitions and dispositions, commercial leasing, and complex term loan and asset-based financing transactions. Harper received his law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law (2015) and a B.A. from the University of Kentucky (2012).

Andrew Rittenhouse (Associate, Memphis) counsels companies in all phases of intellectual property law, including litigation, interferences, prosecution and licensing and settlement agreements, including the defense of matters before the USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Rittenhouse earned his law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law (2015) and a B.A. from Arkansas State University (2010).

H. Shine Chen Schattgen (Associate, Memphis) counsels healthcare clients on a range of operational, regulatory and transactional matters related to clinical trials, physician contracts, healthcare information technology issues, mergers and acquisitions and HIPAA compliance. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Schattgen practiced in the Boston office of Ropes & Gray LLP. Schattgen earned her law degree from Duke University School of Law (2012) and a B.A. from Wellesley College (2006).
