Serco Inc. Acquires Alion’s Naval Systems Business, a Leading Provider to the U.S. Navy and Internationally

We represented Serco Inc. in its acquisition of Alion Science & Technology Corporation’s Naval Systems Business Unit, including its Canadian business and a small number of related contract operations, for $225 million. Serco Inc., a provider of professional, technology, and management services, will strengthen its presence in naval support with this acquisition, and will become a stronger integrated maritime solutions provider for the U.S. Navy and other customers.

    COVID-19 highlighted the lack of internet access and technology for many students and families in Memphis, Tennessee. This deal is part of a broader $37 million plan to enable all students to learn online.  The transaction was formed through a lease-purchase agreement with Microsoft and Hewlett Packard. The funding included federal coronavirus relief dollars through the CARES Act Fund, as well as government bonds from Shelby County and the City of Memphis.
