Nashville, Tenn., (March 2, 2023) – Bass, Berry & Sims is pleased to announce the addition of four new associates in the firm’s Nashville office: Maja A. Hartzell in the Labor & Employment Practice, K. Brianne Kerbyson in the Trusts & Estates Practice, Anna Kaufman Looney in the Real Estate & Debt Financing Transactions Practice and Adam Pfeiffer in the Corporate & Securities Practice. These additions mark the firm’s continued growth strategy after announcing 56 new attorneys in 2022 across its four offices in Tennessee and Washington, D.C.

Maja A. Hartzell advises clients in a range of labor and employment law matters, defending against claims of discrimination, harassment and retaliation before federal and state courts and other administrative entities. She has experience defending clients against claims arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), as well as state whistleblowing statutes and the prosecution and defense of claims alleging breaches of restrictive covenants. Hartzell previously served as a law clerk at the Public Employees Relations Commission and the Florida Commission on Human Relations, both in Tallahassee. She earned a law degree and a business law certificate from Florida State University College of Law (2019), a master’s degree (2014) and undergraduate degree (2012) from Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland.

Brianne Kerbyson assists clients on estate planning, tax law, and business law. She represents family offices, high-net-worth individuals and families, and large family-owned and closely-held entities in sophisticated estate, gift, and generation-skipping tax planning, business succession planning, business transactions, income tax planning, and estate and trust administration. She earned a law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law (2019), an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law (2020) and an undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee (2014).

Anna Kaufman Looney counsels clients on real estate and commercial finance transactions across a variety of industries. She also collaborates with the firm’s Corporate & Securities Practice on corporate transactions for public and private companies, such as mergers and acquisitions, which involve financing and real estate issues. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Looney was at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP in New York. She received a law degree from Cornell Law School (2021) and an undergraduate degree from The George Washington University (2016).

Adam Pfeiffer assists clients on corporate and securities issues, including mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, capital markets transactions, private equity financings, and securities regulations matters and filings. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Pfeiffer was an associate at a boutique law firm in Lincoln, Nebraska that specialized in corporate transactions in the trucking and transportation industry. Pfeiffer earned a law degree from the University of Nebraska College of Law (2019) and an undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2015).
