Firm Boosts Corporate & Securities Practice with Addition of Laura J. Cohen and Intellectual Property & Technology Practice with Katherine M. Todd
Nashville, (January 11 2022) – Bass, Berry & Sims is pleased to announce the addition of Laura J. Cohen as a senior corporate attorney in its Corporate & Securities Practice and Katherine M. Todd as counsel in its Intellectual Property & Technology Practice. Both attorneys join the firm’s growing Nashville office, which recently announced the addition of 20 associates and its upcoming relocation to occupy 180,000 square feet in Nashville Yards.

Laura J. Cohen brings 14 years of experience representing corporate clients and focuses her practice on mergers and acquisitions, business transactions and finance. She represents clients in merger agreements and investment documentation in private equity, corporate mergers and acquisitions and venture capital transactions. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, she was an attorney at an NLJ500 top-150 firm in Nashville and with various firms throughout South Florida. Cohen earned an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law (2008), a law degree from the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center (2007) and an undergraduate degree from the University of Florida (2003).
Katherine M. Todd relies on her significant prior experience working in-house and at law firms to counsel clients in all aspects of intellectual property, with a heavy concentration on trademark matters. She advises clients on trademark selection, acquisition, management and enforcement to help them achieve maximum brand protection. Her practice includes domestic and international portfolios of all sizes for companies across all industry sectors. Todd also devises strategies for global policing and enforcement efforts. In addition to working with international counsel, she handles proceedings both at the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) and in federal court. She previously worked as in-house trademark counsel for a well-known entertainment company and as an intellectual property associate at a large New York City law firm. Todd earned a law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School (2005) and a B.A. from the University of Tennessee (1999).
Katherine Todd is currently licensed to practice in New York and registered to practice in Tennessee pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 7 Sec. 10.07.
