Russ Miller helps governmental and large nonprofit entities structure and negotiate bond financings to pursue their capital projects. Since 2010, he has closed approximately $420 million in bond transactions for nonprofit colleges and universities. He has also closed nearly $1 billion in nonprofit hospital bond transactions and more than 30 direct placement bank transactions for governmental and nonprofit entities in the last three years.
Served as bond counsel to Ballad Health for a $950 million bond issue to finance new healthcare facilities and refinance certain existing debt
Served as bond counsel in connection with the financing for the rehabilitation of Kingfield South Apartments, a low-income housing apartment complex in Jackson, Tennessee
Represented Vanderbilt University as bond counsel in the issuance of approximately $140 million in revenue bonds
Represented a private nonprofit borrower in the $11 million bond financing for construction of a 28,000 square foot, 450-seat black box performing arts theater
Served as both bond counsel and underwriter’s counsel for nonprofit colleges and universities
Assisted Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation with a major modernization program of its public housing projects
Closed an approximately $108 million refinancing for Mountain States Health Alliance
Closed a $99.6 million financing for the Scott Hamilton Proton Therapy Center, a cancer treatment facility in Franklin, Tennessee
Represented TrustMark National Bank in a financing for a low-income senior housing facility through The Health, Educational and Housing Facility Board of the City of Memphis
