Nashville, Tenn., (February 28, 2011) – Bass, Berry & Sims PLC is pleased to announce that Helen W. Brown, Brian M. Dobbs, Curtis L. Fisher, Alonda W. McCutcheon, Andrew L. McQueen, Russell A. Miller and Wendy M. Warren have been elected to membership in the firm’s Nashville office.

Helen Woodyard Brown (Memphis) focuses her practice on public equity offerings for both issuers and underwriters, as well as counseling corporations regarding compliance with the registration and disclosure requirements of the Securities and Exchange Commission. She also works with clients on a variety of corporate matters including mergers and acquisitions, private placements of securities and corporate governance. Brown received her J.D. summa cum laude from the University of Arkansas School of Law and graduated cum laude from the University of Arkansas.
Brian M. Dobbs (Nashville) has a practice that includes construction contracting, construction litigation, real estate litigation and general business litigation. He has extensive experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating all types of construction and design contracts and he handles various construction-related disputes, including mechanics’ and materialmen’s liens, Prompt Pay Act issues, construction defect and delay claims. In 2009, he earned the Green Building Certification Institute’s LEED® Green Associate designation for an individual who has demonstrated the knowledge and skill needed to understand and support green design, construction, and operations. Dobbs received his J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law and his undergraduate degree from Auburn University.
Curtis L. Fisher (Nashville) concentrates his practice in the area of employee benefits and executive compensation. He represents and advises both public and private companies on the design, implementation and administration of tax-qualified retirement plans (including 401(k) plans, pension plans, multi-employer plans and other collectively bargained plans), health and welfare plans, cafeteria plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans and executive compensation arrangements, as well as employee benefit matters involving the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor and the Pension and Benefit Guarantee Corporation. Fisher received his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Toledo College of Law and received his undergraduate degree from Eastern Michigan University.
Alonda W. McCutcheon (Nashville) focuses her practice on representing management in all aspects of labor and employment, including workers’ compensation. She has employment litigation experience in the areas of race, gender, age, national origin and disability discrimination, harassment, retaliation, FMLA, wage and hour and workers’ compensation. She also provides assistance and counseling to employers on a variety of employment matters, including: I-9 compliance, hiring, discipline, terminations, preparation and revision of employee handbooks; drafting employment, severance, confidentiality, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements; and internal wage and hour audits. McCutcheon earned a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and a B.A. from Middle Tennessee State University.
Andrew L. McQueen (Nashville) has a corporate practice that includes mergers and acquisitions of public and private companies, public offerings of equity and debt securities, private placements of securities and a variety of other corporate and securities law matters, including corporate governance, public company disclosure and other SEC regulatory matters. He has also served as Assistant General Counsel for a leading global provider of medical transcription services where he assisted in a recapitalization and sale of the company to private equity buyers. Prior to attending law school, he was a tax consultant with Ernst & Young LLP. McQueen received his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law and a B.S. from Lipscomb University.
Russell M. Miller (Nashville) devotes his practice to tax-exempt finance where he regularly represents financial institutions, governmental entities and nonprofit corporations in a variety of financing transactions, including serving as bond counsel, borrower’s counsel and/or underwriter’s counsel in connection with both governmental and nonprofit bond issues. His experience also includes representing clients in connection with economic development transactions, including tax abatements, tax increment financings and the issuance of industrial development bonds. Miller received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University.
Wendy M. Warren (Nashville) focuses her practice on securities and commercial litigation. Her experience includes conducting internal investigations and regulatory audits for the New York Stock Exchange, litigating complex fraudulent conveyance actions, representing healthcare entities in billing disputes, and representing broker-dealers in FINRA arbitration. Warren earned a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law and B.A. from Fisk University.
