Paula Alvarez represents clients on a broad range of matters involving the development, transfer and licensing of technology and intellectual property. She helps clients protect their IP assets, representing them in a variety of transactions, including advising on the IP aspects of mergers and acquisitions, licensing and service agreements, and strategic relationships. Paula also advises clients on compliance with domestic and international privacy regulations, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and ever-evolving domestic privacy frameworks, as well as the data privacy aspects of technology transactions.
Paula’s practice also extends to trademark portfolio management, assisting clients across a broad range of industries to develop trademark filing, protection, and enforcement strategies.
She earned a law degree from the University of North Carolina, graduating with Honors, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in economics and international business from Belmont University. During law school, Paula worked as an extern for Aston Martin and with the North Carolina Supreme Court. While at Belmont, Paula was an intern at the Ealing Law Centre (London), Caterpillar Financial and the U.S. Department of Commerce-U.S. Commercial Service.
