Bass, Berry & Sims attorney Paige Mills provided comment on the lawsuit filed by various Hollywood studios against VidAngel for alleged violations of the Copyright Act and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). VidAngel is a streaming service that allows subscribers to view movies and TV shows using customizable filters to censor objectionable content (cursing, nudity, etc.). Studios are claiming the creation, streaming and selling of this altered content amounts to copyright infringement and that the Family Movie Act does not create a safe haven for the service.
