Bass, Berry & Sims attorney Gil Uhlhorn was recognized by the Memphis Business Journal in the 2023 Best of the Bar awards. Each year the outlet recognizes the best legal minds in West Tennessee, North Mississippi and East Arkansas. Gil Uhlhorn
Gil works primarily with publicly traded real estate investment trusts (REITs) and commercial real estate owners, advising these clients on the acquisition, disposition and financing of real estate assets. He also assists with long-range planning, leasing and day-to-day issues encountered by owners of real estate. In the past five years alone, Gil has assisted public and private clients in more than $2.3 billion worth of real estate purchase and sale transactions and $11 billion in financing transactions.
Gil had held several leadership positions within the firm and the broader legal community, formerly serving on the firm’s Executive Committee helping to manage the overall law firm, and currently serves as the managing partner of the firm’s Memphis office. In addition, he is active in various legal and real estate organizations, such as the Memphis Chamber of Commerce, Urban Land Institute, NAREIT, Lex Mundi, and the Memphis Bar Association. Outside of his legal practice, Gil gives his time to many community organizations and has served on the board of Alliance For Nonprofit Excellence, MpactMemphis, Ptolemy Memphis, Dixon Gallery and Gardens, Phoenix Club, among others.
