Nashville, Tenn., (July 9, 2012) – Bass, Berry & Sims PLC is pleased to announce that Fritz Richter has been appointed to serve as Co-Vice Chair of the Fiduciary Responsibility / Plan Investments Subcommittee of the Employee Benefits Committee of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Tax Section. The Subcommittee is responsible for presenting ABA educational programs and preparing comments to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), U.S. Department of the Treasury (Treasury), U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and other government agencies on ERISA fiduciary and plan investment issues that impact 401(k) and other types of pension benefit plans.

Richter, a Member of Bass, Berry & Sims, has been practicing exclusively in the areas of employee benefits, ERISA and executive compensation for more than 25 years. He advises clients on the design, implementation and administration of all types of employee benefit plans and compensation arrangements. A significant part of his practice is representing clients on employee benefit matters involving the IRS, the DOL and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, especially in litigation and other disputes, plan audits and IRS and DOL plan correction programs. Richter has been recognized by his peers in Best Lawyers®, Lawdragon 3000 Leading Lawyers in America, and Mid-South Super Lawyers and is a Fellow in the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel.
