Nashville, Tenn., (April 14, 2011) – Bass, Berry & Sims PLC is pleased to welcome new associate Tatjana Paterno and to announce that David W. Smith has been named Of Counsel in the firm’s Nashville Office.
Tatjana Paterno joins the firm’s corporate practice after working four years as an associate at Jones Day in Dallas, Texas. Her experience includes mergers and acquisitions of public and private companies, as well as public and private offerings of debt and equity securities. Paterno’s experience also includes corporate governance, executive compensation, disclosure and securities law compliance. She has represented clients across a broad spectrum of industries, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, retail, information technology and biotechnology. She earned her law degree, summa cum laude, from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law and received her B.A. in history, summa cum laude, from the University of Texas at Dallas.
David W. Smith, of the firm’s commercial and real estate group, has been named Of Counsel. His practice focuses on general commercial real estate transactions with a particular emphasis on leasing in the healthcare industry. He represents a variety of clients in the acquisition, disposition, financing, leasing and ownership of commercial properties including retail, restaurant and office buildings. Smith also has experience working with different types of healthcare providers, such as hospitals, surgery centers and physician groups, to meet their various real estate needs while ensuring regulatory compliance. Smith earned his B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, magna cum laude, in 1992. Prior to pursuing law, Smith was a middle and high school teacher and a Teach For America corps member. He then attended Vanderbilt University Law School, where he served as an Articles Editor for the Vanderbilt Law Review, and received his J.D. in 2001.
