Nashville, Tenn., (December 14, 2022) – Bass, Berry & Sims is pleased to announce the addition of Scott W. Reid as a member. He will split time between the firm’s Nashville and Knoxville offices. Reid, who marks the 56th new attorney announced at the firm in 2022, focuses his practice on private equity, debt financing transactions and debt restructurings. Prior to joining the firm, Reid was a debt finance partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
“In addition to his extremely valuable experience that will further enhance our support of private equity clients and other investment vehicles and borrowers, Scott brings to our team a shared commitment to identifying innovative and effective solutions to achieve our clients’ business goals,” said Cindy Sellers, chair of the firm’s Debt Finance and Real Estate Practice Group. “As we continue to grow our roster with attorneys attuned to the legal and business needs to close complex transactions, we are excited today to welcome someone with the track record and client-centric approach that Scott brings.”
Reid closes billions of dollars of debt financing transactions each year for private equity funds, commercial borrowers, financial institutions, and special situation investors in transactions that include asset-based and cash flow-based financing, project-level financing, acquisition financing, mezzanine financing, and subordinated debt financing. He also regularly counsels clients on debt finance compliance and corporate governance matters, intercreditor matters, liability management, workouts and restructurings, and debtor-in-possession financing.
“I am excited about the opportunity to join the team of first-class attorneys at Bass, Berry & Sims. The firm’s breadth of expertise and its experience managing complex transactions are a great fit for my practice,” said Scott. “In addition to the exceptional attorneys across all practice areas and offices with experience addressing the wide range of regulatory and financial issues that can arise in a transaction, my clients will benefit from the value and sophisticated counsel of my colleagues at Bass, Berry & Sims.”
Reid earned a law degree from Tulane University Law School (2013), a Master of Public Policy degree from Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy (2006) and an undergraduate degree from Davidson College (2003).
