Bass, Berry & Sims Adds 11 Associates

Nashville, Tenn., (December 14, 2016) – Bass, Berry & Sims PLC is pleased to welcome 11 new associates to the firm – ten in Nashville and one in Memphis.

The following four associates join the Corporate & Securities Practice Group, counseling clients on corporate and securities issues including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, and securities matters and filings.

  • Gardner B. Bell (Nashville) earned his law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law (2016), an M.S. from the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce (2011) and a B.A. from the University of Virginia (2010).
  • William J. Kent (Nashville) earned a law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law (2016), an M.B.A. from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (2011) and a B.B.A. from University of Georgia (2009).
  • William N. Lay (Nashville) earned a law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law (2016) and a B.A. from Rhodes College (2013).
  • Craig R. Turner (Nashville) earned a law degree from the Washington University School of Law (2016) and a B.M. from Vanderbilt University (2011).

The following two associates join the Healthcare Practice Group, providing healthcare regulatory counsel as it relates to compliance, operational and transactional matters.

  • Derick Blakely (Nashville) earned a law degree from American University Washington College of Law (2016) and a B.A. from the University of Virginia (2008). During law school, Blakely worked at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General and the D.C. Office of Inspector General where he investigated and analyzed issues related to healthcare fraud and abuse.
  • Craig Stewart (Nashville) earned a law degree from Belmont University College of Law (2016), earned a Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of Alabama (2013), and earned a B.A. from Davidson College (2009).

The following three associates join the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice Group, representing clients in business disputes and breach of contract disputes.

  • Margaret Dodson (Nashville) earned her law degree from Vanderbilt Law School (2016) and received a B.A. from the University of Georgia (2009).
  • Danielle Dudding Irvine (Memphis) earned her law degree from Vanderbilt Law School (2016) and received a B.A. from Southern Methodist University (2012).
  • Sara Morgan (Nashville) earned her law degree from Vanderbilt Law School (2016) and received a B.A. from Purdue University (2010).

In addition, the following two associates have joined the firm:

  • Brett D. Good (Nashville) joins the Employee Benefits Practice Group, working with clients on the design, implementation and administration of qualified benefit plans, health and welfare benefit plans and deferred compensation packages. Good earned his law degree from The University of Texas School of Law (2016) and a B.A. from Vanderbilt University (2011).
  • Katherine Smalley (Nashville) joins the Real Estate & Commercial Finance Practice Group, advising public and private companies on commercial real estate and debt financing transactions. Smalley earned her law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law (2016) and a B.S. from Centre College (2013).
