We represented a water treatment solutions technology company and a number of its employees, who were accused of trade secret violations and unfair competition by a competitor. We were brought into the case late, and over the course of seven weeks, we reviewed thousands of documents and years of pleadings in order to prepare a massive summary judgment motion. The case was ultimately settled shortly thereafter in an extremely favourable manner for our clients. While the civil matter was pending, several of the employees were under federal criminal investigation for potential violations of the Economic Espionage Act. We were able to present our factual findings to the government and, shortly after, the government informed us that it would not be moving forward with its criminal investigation against the company or any of its employees.
