We represented our client, a third-party loan servicer managing a portfolio of several billion dollars’ worth of loans nationwide, in an investigation conducted by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) into potential violations of the Federal Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) regarding the manner in which the company reports information to consumer reporting agencies (CRAs) and investigates disputes. After providing the CFPB with written documents and interrogatory responses, and preparing two witnesses for an interview with CFPB enforcement attorneys, the CFPB closed the investigation without taking enforcement action.
