Bass, Berry & Sims counsel Betsy Knotts will present at the Tennessee Broadband Accelerate Program on July 19th. The session, titled, “Municipal Broadband Financing in Tennessee” will take place virtually, beginning at 8:30AM CT.
Betsy’s session will discuss the evolution of broadband statutes in Tennessee, an introduction to municipal energy authorities and examples of municipal broadband providers, and will also spend time discussing municipal broadband financing options, related federal tax issues, tax incentives, and other topics. The program will last two hours, with Betsy presenting during the first hour, and discussion breakout groups for the second hour. Betsy’s session is a part of the intensive 16-week Tennessee Broadband Accelerate Program designed to engage communities as well as turn available public broadband funding into sustainable broadband access.
