As part of its Office Snapshot series, Law360 Pulse profiled Bass, Berry & Sims’ new office space in Nashville Yards and discussed the new buildout with the firm’s Chief Administrative Officer Craig Bingham and Managing Partner Todd Rolapp.
“We have a 100-year history of investing in the growth and vitality of downtown Nashville,” Todd said. “We are excited to continue this tradition by relocating to Nashville Yards, a premier location with a vibrant environment that allows us to meet the evolving needs of our people and our clients.”
As one of the first tenants, Bass, Berry & Sims was able to influence some of the design aspects of the building to take into account key factors for its attorneys and staff, such as collaboration, connections and client experience.
“We learned a lot of lessons from how we designed the old building, and the design of this space was very intentional to maximize social interactions and seeing people when you’re in the office,” said Craig. For example, a central staircase was included with intentionally misaligned flights to foster connection along with having a diverse set of workspaces on each floor and a single large work café.
“The stairwell is staggered, not stacked,” Craig noted. “When you get to the bottom of a flight, you might have to walk 15 to 30 feet to the next one and we call that area the movement zone. That space is where the bathrooms, the elevator lobby and the coffee stations are, and it’s a very open space with the idea that everyone has to go there from time to time and there’s a high chance you’ll run into someone else.”
Law360 Pulse additionally highlighted Todd’s leadership of the office; amenities of the new space and building; and recent talent acquisitions in the Nashville office including Greg Young, Ginna Burrell, Elizabeth Moore Fox and Gregory Goodman.
