Andrew James advises private equity sponsors, investment firms, emerging growth companies, and public and private companies on acquisitions, divestitures, equity investments, and other strategic corporate matters. He regularly provides counsel on corporate governance, transaction execution, and investment-related matters. In addition to his experience in domestic matters, he has extensive experience with international transactions. His experience spans a broad range of industries, including technology, infrastructure, energy, financial services, and healthcare.
Andrew has represented sponsors, portfolio companies, strategic acquirers, and corporate clients in transactions ranging from middle-market investments to multibillion-dollar mergers and acquisitions. He also has experience advising clients on joint ventures, growth investments, financing matters, fund-related initiatives, and ongoing operational and governance issues. Through a recent, year-long in-house secondment with the digital infrastructure private equity team of a leading alternative asset manager, Andrew gained firsthand experience leading acquisitions, investments, financing arrangements, and fund operations on the legal side from the client perspective.
Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Andrew was a corporate associate at several leading international law firms. While in law school, Andrew also worked full time on the legal and business team of a leading cryptocurrency AI / machine learning analytics startup. He earned a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University. Andrew is fluent in French.
