In response to ongoing COVID-19 developments, the Tennessee Department of Revenue (TDOR) has announced that it will extend the deadline for taxpayers to file 2019 franchise and excise tax returns from April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020. Taxpayers will also not be required to make 2019 franchise and excise tax payments – including quarterly estimated payments – originally due on April 15, 2020, until July 15, 2020. Taxpayers that file returns and make payments for 2019 before this deadline will not incur late filing penalties or interest.
This extended deadline only applies to franchise and excise tax, and the six-month extension date for the 2019 tax year will remain October 15, 2020.
