Reisz first Bass Berry attorney to serve on AHLA board
Nashville, Tenn. (May 16, 2013) – Bass, Berry & Sims PLC is pleased to announce that Cynthia Y. Reisz has been elected to the board of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) for a term to begin in July 2013, after the AHLA’s annual meeting in San Diego.
For nearly three decades, Reisz has dedicated her practice to healthcare, representing hospitals and health systems, ancillary providers and large physician groups in transactions and regulatory and operational matters. She joined the firm in 1986 and is a Member of the Healthcare and Corporate and Securities Practice areas.
“Being named to the AHLA board is just the latest recognition of Cindy Reisz as a national leader in the field of healthcare law,” said Jim Jenkins, chair of the Healthcare Industry Practice at Bass, Berry & Sims. “Cindy is a sought-after presenter and author on healthcare mergers and acquisitions and legal issues faced by physicians. Most importantly, she is the consummate legal advisor and advocate for our clients. Reisz has served in several previous roles with the AHLA. She is the past chair of the association’s Physician Organizations Practice Group and was the chair of the Planning Committee for the 2013 AHLA Physicians and Physician Organizations Institute. Reisz also co-chaired an AHLA task force that wrote a handbook on representing physicians in 2006 and continues to serve as an editor of subsequent editions.
“Being elected by my peers to the AHLA board is a tremendous honor,” Reisz said. “I look forward to continuing my service to the association, and to the field of healthcare law, during my three year term on the board.”
Reisz earned her law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1986.
