As Elizabeth points out, “recent OCR guidance on ransomware is helpful, and clarifies how organizations should approach ransomware attacks in terms of HIPAA compliance and PHI exposure.” Elizabeth further stresses, “‘[t]here is no way to 100 percent eliminate any risk. . . it definitely would be a priority item to look through your systems and figure out where are the highest risks and what is being done to reduce that and manage it.”
