Bass, Berry & Sims attorney Danielle Sloane provided insight for an article outlining the uptick in payments by drug and device manufacturers to physicians and hospitals under the ACA’s Open Payments program. On June 30, CMS released 2016 data showing that payments rose above $8 billion last year through this program. According to Danielle, “the data are useful for hospitals and physician employers to track industry relationships with their physicians.”
