MEMPHIS, Tenn. November 13, 2019 – Bass, Berry & Sims is pleased to announce that Al Bright, Jr. has joined the firm’s Memphis, Tennessee office as a member of its Corporate & Securities Practice Group. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Bright was in-house counsel for medical technology company Medtronic Inc., and most recently, he was a partner in the Memphis office of Waller, Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP.

Bright has more than 15 years of experience counseling public and private companies in a diverse range of corporate law matters. He serves as a trusted business advisor and outside general counsel for clients in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, medical device, manufacturing. and distribution industries. Bright works closely with clients to navigate corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions ranging from $5 million to $1.2 billion. He also advises clients through securities offerings and capital raising activities as well as cross-border transactions. Additionally, Bright has assisted clients with negotiating licensing and development collaborations as well as supply, distribution and sales agreements.

Outside of the firm, Bright is a fellow with New Memphis Institute, formerly known as Memphis Leadership Academy. He is an alumnus of Leadership Memphis’ Executive Class. He also serves as the chairman and a board member of the Economic Development Growth Engine for Memphis and Shelby County. He is on the boards of directors for Evolve Bank & Trust and Seeding Success. He previously served on the boards of directors for Mid-South Regional Blood Center and the Memphis and Shelby County Community Redevelopment Agency.

Bright earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Memphis and his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
