Bass, Berry & Sims is pleased to announce that member Bryan P. Bylica has been recognized by The M&A Advisor as a 2022 Emerging Leader in the Legal Advisor category. In its 13th year, the Annual Emerging Leaders Awards celebrate the accomplishments of M&A, financing and turnaround professionals across the country under the age of 40 whose significant level of success, industry leadership and community service has established them as rising leaders in the corporate finance and dealmaking industries.

“Bryan’s work to create and lead our Investment Funds Practice has been an enormous contribution to our firm and to our private equity clients and other investment funds. We are grateful for his invaluable efforts and to The M&A Advisor for this well-deserved honor,” said Michael Holley, chair of the Corporate & Securities Practice Group at Bass, Berry & Sims.

Bryan Bylica photo 2021Bryan joined Bass, Berry & Sims in May 2021 to form the firm’s Investment Funds Practice, which complements the firm’s busy transactional work by providing counsel in all business aspects throughout the lifecycle of operating a private equity fund, Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) fund, Rural Business Investment Company (RBIC) fund, hedge fund and other similar investment vehicles. Bryan is one of only a handful of lawyers in the U.S. that regularly represents both SBIC and RBIC funds, and he counsels these funds throughout the licensing process and in post-licensing regulatory and compliance matters under the federal agencies that administer these programs. Bryan also represents buyers and sellers across all sectors in lower middle-market mergers and acquisitions with enterprise values ranging from $10 million to $250 million.

Outside of the firm, Bryan is active with several professional and community organizations. He is involved in the Small Business Investor Alliance, an association of senior investment professionals focused on the lower market. Bryan is also a member of the American Bar Association Investment Management Committee.

Bryan earned a law degree from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law (2009), a Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola University Chicago (2009) and an undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame (2006).
