Nashville, Tenn. (June 17, 2015) – Bass, Berry & Sims PLC is pleased to announce that W. Brantley Phillips, Jr. as been selected as a member of the 2015-2016 class for Leadership Tennessee. Leadership Tennessee is an initiative of Lipscomb University’s Nelson and Sue Andrews Institute for Civic Leadership.

Phillips has nearly 20 years of experience representing clients in complex business litigation and healthcare matters. As co-chair of the firm’s Securities & Shareholder Litigation Practice Group, Phillips has served as lead counsel to public and private companies and their directors in high-stakes securities and shareholder class actions, derivative actions and business fraud cases. Drawing on his background in public policy, Phillips also routinely assists clients in proceedings before government boards and commissions, with a special focus on obtaining certificates of need and regulatory approvals for the establishment and operation of healthcare facilities and services. Phillips also currently serves on the firm’s Executive Committee. He earned his law degree from Washington & Lee University and received a M.P.P. from Duke University and a B.A. from Birmingham-Southern College.

Leadership Tennessee is the only statewide leadership education program in the state. The initiative was launched in August 2013 as a 10-month program designed to bring together community members from diverse backgrounds and experiences for an in-depth exploration of the complex issues facing Tennessee, with a focus on how leaders can collaborate to effectively address them. The 2015-2016 class includes 34 business, government, education and nonprofit leaders from across Tennessee.
