Nashville, Tenn., (February 6, 2012) – Bass, Berry & Sims PLC is pleased to announce that Stephen J. Jasper, Blaine H. Smith and Russell E. Stair have been elected to membership in the firm.

Stephen J. Jasper (Nashville) Jasper focuses his practice on state and local tax litigation, advocating on behalf of his clients to resolve disputes or potential disputes with the Tennessee Department of Revenue and local taxing authorities. Prior to joining the firm, Jasper produced the evening newscast for Columbia, Missouri ABC affiliate KMIZ-ABC 17. Jasper received his J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law and graduated with a B.A. from the University of Missouri.
Blaine H. Smith (Nashville) Smith’s practice includes high-end sophisticated estate planning, estate administration and probate litigation. Smith graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in accounting. He received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.
Russell E. Stair (Knoxville) Stair’s practice focuses on bankruptcy and litigation with an emphasis in commercial litigation, business disputes, financial products and broker-dealer litigation, and corporate and securities litigation. Stair was a former intern with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Boston and practiced for two years as a Certified Public Accountant with Ernst & Young, LLP in Nashville prior to attending law school. He received a B.S. and M.A. from the University of Tennessee before receiving his law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School.
