Bass, Berry & Sims attorneys Angela Humphreys and Derick Blakely co-authored an article as part of the AHLA Weekly series about President Trump’s Executive Order titled “Minimizing the Economic Burden of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act Pending Repeal.” As the authors point out in the article, “[t]he order communicates to federal agencies, such as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and the U.S. Department of Treasury, that the new administration under President Trump seeks the prompt repeal of the ACA and instructs the executive branch to ‘minimize the unwarranted economic and regulatory burdens of the Act, and prepare to afford the States more flexibility and control to create a more free and open healthcare market.'”
