Bass, Berry & Sims attorney Emily Burrows was featured in a Nashville Business Journal article discussing what to watch for with artificial intelligence (AI) in 2025.
Emily said the year ahead may see businesses running into copyright issues if they use AI-based source code generators in software critical to the business. However, she said that this is lower risk if the AI is used on the back end just to make systems run.
Additionally, Emily said much of what happens in the AI world in 2025 will be shaped by the new U.S. presidential administration.
“We’re all operating under what is in the [President Joe] Biden executive order on AI and FTC’s [Federal Trade Commission] enforcement efforts,” Emily said. “Obviously, that’s going to be changing in the next month or so… we’re just waiting to see on that a bit.”
