Bass, Berry & Sims attorney Brianna Powell outlines several tips for how young legal professionals can succeed and rise above the status quo when starting a job at a new organization. During this time of great transition with workplaces across all industries, Brianna provides the following five pieces of advice to young professionals:

  1. Remember what you learned in school – apply the valuable skills you learned in law school.
  2. Open your mouth – always be willing and ready to ask for what you want.
  3. Treat your internal colleagues like external clients – be up front with colleagues about deadlines and expectations for projects.
  4. Come to the table with solutions – be proactive about offering solutions and recommendations.
  5. Embrace the suck – life isn’t ideal and remember to always make the best out of a less-than-ideal situation.
