Bass, Berry & Sims attorney Brian Roark will serve as a panelist on a session titled, “Developments in Healthcare Fraud,” taking place during the American Bar Association Virtual Civil False Claims Act and Qui Tam Enforcement Institute. Brian will be joined by other colleagues in the industry to discuss the complex fit between medical necessity, managed care plans and the FCA, developments in kickback and Stark litigation, new alleged lab scams, administrative remedies, and the overĀ­hang of Escobar, among other topics.

The American Bar Association Virtual Civil False Claims Act and Qui Tam Enforcement Institute takes place December 1 through December 4 and provides attendees with an opportunity to: Take part in an optional FCA 101 for lawyers new to this practice; learn about recent developments in liability, damages & penalties, and hear an expert prognosis on the view ahead; dig into the nuts and bolts of investigating, litigating, and settling an FCA case; and study developments and trends in healthcare, procurement, and loan & grant fraud, join a state FCA roundtable, and engage on ethics issues that can complicate FCA practice.
