In March, the Daily Report | Law.com announced its winners and finalists for the 2026 Southeastern Legal Awards. These annual awards recognize firms and attorneys from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Tennessee for their unwavering dedication to the profession.

Bass, Berry & Sims was recognized as a finalist in the following categories: Litigation Departments of the Year, General Litigation and Litigation Departments of the Year, White Collar. As part of the recognition, Daily Report | Law.com featured Q&As about each practice. Below are excepts from each Q&A and links to the full content. Honorees will be recognized at a gala on May 7 in Atlanta.

Litigation Departments of the Year, General Litigation

In this category, Bass, Berry & Sims was recognized as a finalist alongside seven other firms: Dentons; Eversheds Sutherland; Holland & Knight, Jones Day; King & Spalding; Law Offices of James Scott Farrin; and Moore & Van Allen.

When asked about the department’s most satisfying successes last year, the firm noted its work with BlackRock, Meta, Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, and a data privacy class action for one of the nation’s largest health systems. Building on these wins, the firm said, “2025 was a year of continued growth and investment in our team and capabilities. We expanded our litigation bench, enhanced our cross-disciplinary teams, and continued to invest in the technology and processes that allow us to manage complex matters efficiently and with a focus on client service.”

In response to a question about what law firms need to prioritize to be successful, the firm said, “Success depends on collaboration across practices, the agility to adapt as matters evolve, and the tenacity to see cases through to the right outcome. The most effective litigators understand not just how to win a case but also how the client defines “success” for the case and seeks to use the case to advance broader business objectives.”

Litigation Departments of the Year, White Collar

For this specialty category, the firm was a finalist with just two other firm: King & Spalding and Moore & Van Allen.

When asked about the team’s successes from the past year, the firm said, “Our most satisfying successes in 2025 reflect our ability to guide clients through high-stakes government investigations and enforcement matters at critical moments, often involving parallel civil, criminal and regulatory exposure.” The firm specified our work representing healthcare companies in False Claims Act matters across nearly every sector of the industry; defending clients targeted in criminal investigations, and in parallel criminal and civil proceedings against the DOJ and U.S. attorney’s offices across the country; and our leadership in advising on Controlled Substances Act diversion matters, representing some of the nation’s largest health systems, pharmacies and other healthcare companies in compliance and enforcement matters.

The team was asked about what it prioritizes to be successful in today’s industry and responded with “Law firms need to engage early, shape the narrative, and understand how enforcement authorities are likely to view the facts so clients can stay ahead of risk through practical proactive compliance counseling and stronger internal controls.”
