Michael, chair of the Bass, Berry & Sims’ Antitrust & Competition Practice Group, brings nearly three decades of antitrust leadership, drawing on a unique combination of roles within both federal enforcement agencies and substantial in-house experience at a Fortune 200 global company. Drawing on this experience, he has a proven record of navigating clients through high-stakes matters in the United States and abroad. His practice reflects the modern antitrust landscape: a blend of sophisticated merger review, cutting-edge investigations, global enforcement coordination, and strategic counseling across industries undergoing rapid competitive change.

Michael previously served as a lead trial attorney at the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice (DOJ) for a decade, where he represented the United States through all phases of antitrust investigations and litigation. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Michael was vice president and associate general counsel of global litigation and competition at a Fortune 200 company and was responsibility for managing all types of global antitrust litigation, investigations and regulatory inquiries. In his current role at Bass, Berry & Sims, Michael counsels clients on a wide array of antitrust matters, including investigations by the DOJ, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and antitrust agencies outside the United States; domestic and international antitrust litigation, including multidistrict class actions; and regulatory inquiries before U.S. and foreign regulators.
