Alere CON Approved for West Tennessee Region

We served as lead counsel to Alere Women’s and Children’s Health LLC in its efforts to obtain a Certificate of Need (CON) to expand its existing homecare operations from 7 to 23 counties in and around metropolitan Memphis, Tennessee. The project received wide support – including support from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee and the other leading TennCare MCOs– and was unanimously approved by state regulators. The expansion of Alere’s services into more rural areas in West Tennessee is expected to reduce the need for costly pregnancy-related visits to the emergency room, preterm maternal hospitalizations and newborn admissions at neonatal intensive care units in the region. 

Alere specializes in homecare services for high-risk obstetrical patients who are suffering from serious pregnancy-related conditions, including premature labor, gestational diabetes and hypertension.
