Tori Kline represents employers in a range of labor and employment law matters, focusing her practice on issues arising throughout the course of mergers and acquisitions. Tori has experience advising clients on non-compete laws, drafting and negotiating employment agreements, and employment-related due diligence within the context of a transaction.
In addition, Tori counsels companies on employee handbooks and other employment policies and practices in response to and in compliance with developments in employment law. She defends clients before federal and state courts and other administrative entities against claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, including claims arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other federal and state rules. She has also handled employment discrimination issues under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.
Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Tori was an associate with Jones Day where she conducted workplace investigations and represented clients in labor and employment issues such as those arising under restrictive covenant and anti-discrimination laws. Tori also maintained an active pro bono practice representing asylum seekers and trafficking survivors. During law school, Tori served as a legal intern with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Sea Grant Law & Policy Program and as a judicial intern to the Honorable Jacqueline Becerra of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Floria. She earned a law degree with a concentration in environmental law from the University of Miami School of Law and an undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh, College of Business Administration.
