Warner Bass is a Member of the firm’s Commercial Practice and previously served as the firm’s managing partner. Since joining the firm in 1966, Mr. Bass has practiced in a broad range of areas, including litigation, labor law and corporate and securities matters.

In more recent years, he has focused his practice on real estate transactions. Additionally, Mr. Bass has undergone mediation and arbitration training and has been certified as both a mediator and an arbitrator. Mr. Bass’ legal experience includes:

  • Counseling and representing sellers and buyers of real estate, including zoning and planning matters relating to such property.
  • Counseling and representing developers of a variety of projects, including office buildings, shopping centers, apartments and residential developments, including zoning and planning matters relating to such property.
  • Representation of lenders in connection with the construction and/or permanent financing of office buildings, shopping centers, apartments and residential developments.
  • Counseling and representing families with real estate holdings in connection with the management, development and/or disposition of such holdings.

Mr. Bass graduated from the University of North Carolina, where he was a Morehead Scholar. He graduated in 1966 from Vanderbilt University School of Law, where he served as articles editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review and was selected for the Order of the Coif. He then joined Bass, Berry & Sims in 1966.

In addition to his professional activities, Mr. Bass has served on various community and charitable boards, including the Tennessee Performing Arts Foundation (Chair), The Civil War Trust and the Tennessee chapter of The Nature Conservancy. He previously served as chair, and continues to serve as a member, of the board of trustees of the Land Trust for Tennessee, Inc. Mr. Bass also served in the Tennessee State Constitutional Convention of 1977 and as chair of the Planning Commission for the City of Forest Hills from 1995 until 2013.
