The national Healthcare Practice at Bass, Berry & Sims recently earned several top rankings – from both the legal and healthcare industries. In 2023, Bass, Berry & Sims was ranked among the largest healthcare practices by both Modern Healthcare and the American Health Law Association (AHLA). In addition, the firm’s Healthcare Practice earned several rankings by Chambers USA for 2023. Details about each ranking are below.
Chambers USA 2023
On June 1, Chambers USA 2023 released its annual rankings of firms and attorneys in the country. In this year’s guide, the Healthcare Practice at Bass, Berry & Sims was recognized in three separate categories:
- For the eighth year in a row, the practice received a Nationwide ranking in the Healthcare: The Elite category, earning a Band 4 national recognition.
- For the sixteenth year in a row, the practice received a Band 1 ranking in Tennessee.
- The practice was also ranked in the District of Columbia.

American Health Law Association
AHLA released its annual Top Honors Lists – recognizing and celebrating law firms that consistently sustain their affiliation with AHLA and encourage colleagues, employees, and members to affiliate with AHLA. The 2023 Top Honors ranking was based on organization members as of March 31, 2023. Bass, Berry & Sims was ranked #4 on the list – the only Tennessee-based law firm on the list. Modern Healthcare
In March 2023, Modern Healthcare released its rankings of annual Healthcare Law Firms based on the number of healthcare lawyers employed at the end of 2022. Bass, Berry & Sims ranked #4 on the list, again the only Tennessee-based law firm in the Top 5.
