In early June, Chambers USA released its annual rankings and for the tenth year in a row, the firm received a Nationwide ranking for healthcare. In the Chambers USA 2025 edition, Bass, Berry & Sims was ranked in the Healthcare: The Elite category, earning a Band 3 recognition; additionally, Chambers USA ranked Bass, Berry & Sims as one of the top healthcare law firms in Tennessee, a position the firm has retained for the past 19 years; and the firm maintained a ranking in healthcare in the District of Columbia. American Health Law Association
Also in June, AHLA released its Top Honors rankings – recognizing the law firms that consistently and enthusiastically sustain their members’ and employees’ affiliation with the organization. This annual list ranks the top ten firms in the nation based on membership in AHLA (for the 2025 list, AHLA based the ranking on organization members as of March 31, 2025). For 2025, Bass, Berry & Sims was ranked #3 on this list of U.S. law firms with 273 attorneys having an AHLA membership. The AHLA website has the full Top Honors 2025 list.
This year, AHLA selected Bass, Berry & Sims attorney Cindy Reisz as a Fellow, one of the organization’s most prestigious recognitions. This honor celebrates Cindy’s significant contributions to the field of health law and her leadership within the AHLA, including her service as the organization’s president during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic. In April, Modern Healthcare published its annual ranking of the largest healthcare law firms in the country. This ranking is based on the number of healthcare attorneys employed by firms at the conclusion of 2024. Bass, Berry & Sims ranked #4 on Modern Healthcare’s 2025 list. PitchBook and Significant Transactions
In the quarterly PitchBook League Tables, the firm was ranked #6 in the Law Firms: PE Deals – Most Active in Healthcare category. This ranking is reflective of the significant work the firm was involved with during the first quarter of this year, including:
- Representation of EyeSouth Partners, a portfolio company of Olympus Partners, in its acquisition of Retina Surgery Center.
- Representation of Coker, a portfolio company of Trinity Hunt Partners, in its acquisition of Health Care Program Advisors.
- Representation of Physical Rehabilitation Network, a portfolio company of Gryphon Investors, in its acquisition of Spine and Sport Physical Therapy.
- Representation of Horizon Infusions, LLC in its sale to Rubicon Founders, a healthcare investment firm.
Separately, Bass, Berry & Sims represented Sycamore Partners, a private equity firm based in New York, in entering into a definitive agreement to acquire Walgreens Boots Alliance (Nasdaq: WBA) for a total transaction valued up to $23.7 billion. The deal is expected to close later this year or early in 2026.
