Bass, Berry & Sims attorney Denise Barnes was quoted in a Bloomberg Law article examining the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) announcement of $6.8 billion in False Claims Act (FCA) settlements and recoveries for 2025.

Addressing the distribution of recoveries across industries, Denise noted that healthcare continues to “lead the lion’s share of recoveries,” accounting for more than $5.7 billion of the total.  She also observed that a 32% increase in whistleblower filings signals that FCA recoveries are likely to remain on an upward trajectory.
