Bass, Berry & Sims is proud to announce that, for the third year in a row, it received a perfect score of 100% on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s premier benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality. Bass, Berry & Sims joins the more than 680 major U.S. businesses that earned top marks this year. Only seven Tennessee-based companies earned a perfect score in 2020; five of those are based in Nashville. Of the 130 law firms across the country that received a perfect score, Bass, Berry & Sims is the only firm with a Tennessee headquarters; in all, only 10 law firms with a Tennessee presence received a 100% score.

The results of this year’s CEI showcase how U.S.-based companies are not only promoting LGBTQ-friendly workplace policies in the United States, but helping advance the cause of LGBTQ inclusion in workplaces abroad. The CEI rates companies and law firms on detailed criteria falling under five broad categories:

  • Non-discrimination policies.
  • Employment benefits.
  • Demonstrated organizational competency and accountability around LGBTQ diversity and inclusion.
  • Public commitment to LGBTQ equality.
  • Responsible citizenship.

Bass, Berry & Sims earned a 100% ranking for satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria and received the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality. For more information on the 2020 Corporate Equality Index, or to download a free copy of the report, please visit the HRC website.
