To honor Cindy Reisz following her term as president of the American Health Law Association (AHLA), Bass, Berry & Sims made a donation in her name to a cause very meaningful to Cindy, the promotion of diversity and inclusion within the legal and health industries. Through AHLA’s inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (IDEA) initiatives, AHLA seeks to provide an environment for members to share ideas, enhance their educational opportunities, and find community. Donations like these to AHLA ensure the association can continue to support a diverse talent pipeline of next-generation health law professionals by providing innovative professional development opportunities.

Cindy served as AHLA president in 2022. She has been a legal advisor to healthcare industry clients for more than 30 years. Her extensive knowledge of the healthcare industry and its regulatory framework allows her to structure complex deals, such as joint ventures, acquisitions and de novo development of facilities and healthcare services that comply with federal and state healthcare laws. “Cindy has always been, and remains today, a powerful and effective force for the advancement of historically underrepresented professionals at our firm and in the health law community,” said Todd Rolapp, managing partner of Bass, Berry & Sims.

AHLA included an article about Cindy in the May 2023 issue of Health Law Connections in conjunction with the donation. Read the article, “Building and Sustaining an Inclusive and Diverse Culture” online (subscription/AHLA member login required).
