Nashville, Tenn., (December 1, 2016) – Bass, Berry & Sims PLC is pleased to welcome five new attorneys to the firm – three in Nashville and one in both Memphis and Knoxville.

Meredith Edwards Collins (Associate, Nashville) rejoins the firm’s healthcare practice, working with companies, private equity groups and venture funds as they navigate the regulatory risks associated with mergers, acquisitions, investments and divestitures within the healthcare industry. Collins earned her law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law (2009) and received a B.S. from Belmont University (2006).

Denise Griffin (Attorney, Memphis) assists clients in a variety of real estate transactions, counseling public and private companies though the acquisition, financing, disposition and leasing of real property. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Griffin served as in-house counsel at a Manhattan real estate investment firm and previously served as in-house counsel with the core services division of the third largest privately owned real estate company. Griffin earned her law degree from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law (1997) and received a B.A. from the University of Memphis (1993).

Kate Hunter (Associate, Nashville) concentrates on investigations and litigation related to inquiries involving alleged violations of the False Claims Act (FCA), the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), various securities laws and other federal statutes. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Hunter was an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Norton Rose Fulbright. Hunter earned her LL.M. and law degree from Duke University School of Law (2012) and received a B.A. from Tufts University (2006).

Jordana Katz Nelson (Senior Public Finance Attorney, Knoxville) counsels clients in the area of commercial real estate transactions with a particular focus on affordable housing projects and economic incentives. Prior to joining the firm, Nelson served as General Counsel of LHP Capital, LLC and was the General Counsel and Vice President of Redevelopment for Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation. Nelson earned her law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law (2005) and a B.S. from Western Carolina University (2001).

Timothy Van Hal (Associate, Nashville) advises clients on a variety of corporate, securities and capital markets law matters including advice related to initial public offerings, high yield indentures and redemptions and investment grade debt offerings. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Van Hal practiced at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in Frankfurt, Germany. Van Hal earned his law degree from Vanderbilt Law School (2013) and received a B.A. from Georgetown University (2009).
