Community Legal Professionals Team Up to Provide Free Legal Services to Memphis-area Seniors at Orange Mound Senior Center
Memphis, Tenn., July 28, 2016 – AutoZone and Bass, Berry & Sims PLC, in conjunction with Memphis Area Legal Services (MALS), hosted the eighth annual “Give a Little, Help a Lot” pro bono clinic at Orange Mound Senior Center. Throughout the morning of Wednesday, July 27, attorneys, paralegals and volunteers from Bass, Berry & Sims, AutoZone and MALS assisted seniors with the preparation of advance care plans, healthcare directives, durable power of attorney forms and wills and provided essential legal advice.
“We are very happy to have had the opportunity to work with hundreds of seniors at Orange Mound Senior Center for eight consecutive years and provide them with essential legal guidance that they otherwise might not have received,” said Kristen C. Wright, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, Customer Satisfaction at AutoZone. “This longstanding partnership between AutoZone, Bass, Berry & Sims and Memphis Area Legal Services has been successful due to our shared commitment to helping others and serving the Memphis community.”
“Health and financial planning can be extremely challenging for anyone, especially those who might be unable to retain legal guidance to help navigate these complex issues,” said Jonathan Nelson, an attorney with Bass, Berry & Sims. “We always look forward to collaborating with AutoZone and Memphis Area Legal Services to help provide this much needed counsel at the ‘Give a Little, Help a Lot’ clinic.”
“The Orange Mound community and Memphis Area Legal Services are thankful for yet another successful year working with the attorneys and staff at Bass, Berry & Sims and the AutoZone legal department,” said Linda Seely, Director of Pro Bono Projects at Memphis Area Legal Services. “We appreciate this great partnership and the time and effort put into this event each year to help seniors proactively prepare for important financial and healthcare decisions.”
